The Journey Begins

In mid-August - after months in Green Valley (AZ) followed by months in New Orleans (LA) we began to go stir crazy. What are we going to do, we're tired of staying at 'home;' we've both had the dread disease; we've both had positive antibody tests to prove it; we can't get into Canada. 

Let's get another travel trailer and hit the road.

We spent a few days looking at trailers near New Orleans - most were too big. Why not get another, but newer, Casita, like the one we had ten years ago? I put an ad on the Facebook Casita Forum website:

Hi all, we've just joined your group. Melanie and I (Charlie) had a Casita about ten years ago, sold it, and are now looking for a replacement. Any suggestions would be much appreciated - preferably in the southeast, anywhere between TX, FL and WV.

A gentleman sent me a message. He had a 17' Casita Independence Deluxe he might be interested in selling. After several days of long phone conversation, and text messaging, he agreed to sell us his Casita. August 26th we met in Allen (TX), got a trailer tour, went to the bank, and she became ours.

We drove north to Lake Murray State Park (OK) for our first night - no bugs, warm, my first fresh water swim in years - then on to Norman (OK) to visit friends (Diane and Lenny). Returning to New Orleans, we stopped overnight at the very funky Lakeview Camping Resort (Ore City, TX), before driving the rest of the way 'home' through areas which had been hard hit by Hurricane Laura a few days earlier.

Our Casita, currently nameless, now rests next to 8016 St Charles Ave. We've been busy shopping and planning for the last few weeks. Departure date for our 'Western Trip' is September 16th. But Tropical Depression #19 is forecast to cross southern Louisiana. We'll let you know how that goes.
